Stations of the Cross
St. Peter's Catholic Church • 12 noon
The Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion that offers witness to Jesus’ Passion and Death.
Traditionally there are 14 stations, each depicting events from Christ’s last day on earth. Many churches will have icons or pictures to represent each station and may be placed around a sanctuary, prayer room, or outdoor path.
This Good Friday event involves people walking a path around St. Peters’ and through the surrounding neighborhood. At each stop scripture is read and a brief reading is presented detailing the significance of that station. Someone carries a full-sized cross along the journey. As the group of participants move from station to station, music is sung.
At each station we use our senses and our imagination to reflect prayerfully upon Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection, and to simply experience the visual images to reflect on Christ’s love for us.
